DAIRY BOARD.
NORTHERN WARD ELECTION*
MR. TREMAIXE'S SUGGESTION.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Thursday. A considerable amount of interest ,is being taken in the election of a member of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board for No. 1 Ward, which includes all the territory from the North Cape to the southern boundary of the North Auckland Land Board's area, somewhero in the vicinity of Mercer. The candidates are the sitting member, Mr. W. Grounds, of Hokianga, who is also a. member of Amalgamated Dairies, and Mr. E. S. Tremaine, chairman of tha Wliangarei Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd. Mr. Tremaine has addressed meetings at Ruawai and Dargaville, at both of which he received votes of thanks.
Speaking at Dargaville, Mr. Tremaints said that it was his considered opinion that while there are not too many dairy factories in North Auckland there are too many companies. As an instance he said that there were two companies in the Northern Wairoa district (Northern Wairoa and Ruawai), and three in Wliangarei (Wliangarei, Maungatapere and Springside). These companies, in their respective territories, could with advantage be amalgamated, which would, lie said, go a long way towards eliminating petty jealousies, and would also solve the question of overlapping in cream collection. He would suggest to the companies that tliey should be working in that direction.
