Herd-tcstmg Association show a decided drop in production, as compared with a year ago.- Adverse weather conditions are j asserted to be the reason, for the South'! Auckland dairying season ended earlier this year than in 1933. There was, conse- I quently, a drop in the number of cows tested as the season advanced. The association handled 110,806 cows in February. but in April the number dropped to 96,523. The average yield was 3651b milk and 19.821b fat, with a test of 5.43. In April last year 07,477 .cows were tested, and produced an average of 4571b milk and 23.441b fat. The test was 5.12. During April, 1032, 84,777 cows were tested, tiie average yield being 3451b milk and lS.23ib fat. The test was 5.29. The groups in the Te Awaniutu district compare very favourably witii those in other parts of the territory, but all show a corresponding decline in production, as compared with April of last year. Hairini group's 1365 cows averaged 3181b milk, 5.76 test and 15.341b fat. The best herd average was 25.071b fat from 55 cows, and the lowest 11.171b fat. The best cow gave 591b fat. Kawhia group's 670 cows averaged 3751b milk, 5.43 test and 20.391b fat. The best herd, 17 cows, averaged 31.051b fat, and the lowest 12.481b fat. The best individual cow produced 561b fat. | The 2690 cows in Kihikihi group averaged 3311b fat, 5.6S test, and 18.821b fat. The best herd average was 361b fat ; from 59 cows, and the lowest 9.671b. The best cow gave 701b fat. Otorohanga No. 1 group's 1427 cows aver- i aged 3431b milk, 5.91 test, and 20.291b fat. The best herd, 78 cows, averaged 25.55 ib i fat, and the lowest 8.971b fat. The best , cow gave 471b fat. In the No. 2 group the , averages-were: 3141b milk, 5.71 test, and j 17.921b fat. The best herd average was 29.041b fat from 43 cows, and the lowest 10.741b. The best herd, 35 cows, averaged 27.681b fat, and the lowest 10.511b. The best cow gave 611b fat. In Te Kawa's group the 1901 cows averaged 3331b milk, 5.08 test, and 18.931b fat. The best herd average was 29.601b fat from 54 cows, and the lowest 10.G21b. The best cow produced 841b fat.
