PROGRESSIVE CLUB.

At the weekly meeting of the club there was a good attendance, Mrs. Sullivan presiding. Their member, Mrs. Kasper, was heartily congratulated on her appointment as president of the National Council of Women. Mrs. Rawley read the report of the National Council meeting. The evening's entertainment took the form of a debate, "Should we encourage art unions and lotteries?' with Mesdames Sehofield, Haynes and Sullivan for the negative and Mesdames Donne, Storey and Raw ley for the affirmative. Mrs. Kasper acted as judge. After some very good speeches on both sides, which were greatly enjoyed by the audience, Mrs. Kasper awarded the win to the affirmative by two points, which Mrs. Donne gained for her side. The subject was then opened for discussion, and after supper, served by Mesdames Murdoch and Dickens, a most cnjoyablo evening was brought to a close.
