QUEST FOR AN AIRPORT.
In reviving the question of an airport site for Auckland, the Toivn Planning Institute has shown that it is alipif to the need of planning -well there is yet little public interest m the prospects of civil aviation, and although it is left to the aero clubs at present to develop an air sense, the time must come when New Zealand towns and cities, will' be linked together by aerial transport, to say nothing of a possible service across the Tasman. Landing grounds will be required close to the centres of population, and so situated that they will link up the four great arms of transport —i-oad, rail, sea and air. The Town Planning Institute, after considering. possible sites around Auckland, has recommended two for further investigation—one near the Tamaki Biver, and the other on the shores of the Upper Harbour. It has been suggested to the City Council that it should make a survey of these two sites, and the Council has agreed to prepare a report. Preparations now may save a good deal of trouble ana expense later on.
