LABOUR LEADER.

HEARTY WELCOME AT WAIHI.

NEED FOR DISSOLUTION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent./ WAIHI, Thursday. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage, addressed a well-attended meeting last evening on Labour's plan for New Zealand. He received on enthusiastic welcome. The Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, presided, and Mr. J. Thorn, official Labour candidate for the Thames eeat, was also present.

Mr. Savage said that the lifting of the purchasing power of the people was the only way towards the expansion of trade. The farmer must have guaranteed prices for his produce.. Planned production was the only alternative to the present chaotic methods, which resulted in the production of goods which could not be exported at economic prices and which were not required for consumption in New Zealand.

Resolutions were carried unanimously expressing confidence in the capacity of the Labour party, and Mr. Savage as its leader, to overcome the effects of the economic crisis in the Dominion and to restore prosperity to its people, and emphasircincT the necessity for a dissolution of Parliament at the usual time before, the end of the year, in order to. give people an opportunity to express themselves on problems facing the country to-day.
