Lagoon reeled off half a mile in 52 2-ss, and Jalldy Karo and Baroscope ran the last three furlouge of their work in 3!te. Baroscope was showing distinct signs of lameness after the gallop. Silk Sox strode over six furlongs, traversing the last three in 41 4-os. Copyist sprinted half a mile in 52 l-ss, hitting out very freely. Royal Secret was given an easy five furlongs, averaging about 15s to the furlong, and King Ford finished up his work with a sprint down the straight. View Halloo, who had a fair amount of speed on when he jumped off at the half-mile post, ran home in 50 4-ss. He hit out well, and handled the ground in good style.

The steeplechaser Copey did solid pace work on the eand track. He"Tooks in excellent racing condition. Brown Abbey injured an eyelid a few days ago, and several stitches had to be , inserted. He fe an unlikely starter in the Great Northern Hurdles.

J. H. Wallace's chestnut gelding Nazir is doing quite well in his track work. He still bears a nuggety appearance, but when stretched out in hie work gives evidence of possessing pace. He will be on the tracks throughout the winter, and will be carrying silk in the sprint. Notwithstanding the fact that she is somewhat on the light side, Gay Rose has been responsible for nice work during the week. Aβ she can negotiate a yielding track she should race well at the Auckland meeting, even if rain falls in the meantime. Mr. J. Whitten's Tin Lap has been showing speed during the week, and will strip in excellent condition at Ellerslie. Record Flight is to be among the contestants on Saturday. He is now decidedly on the upgrade, and should be able to get over seven furlongs in the second division of the Jervois Handicap. Being a good beginner, he ia generally able to get a good position early in his races, and this should be in his favour during the week.

Mr. E. G. Gardiner is sending Royal Secret to Ellerslie. A few weeks ago she had a let up for a fortnight, but ie improving now with every gallop.
