SCHOLAR FAREWELLED.

A large gathering of old boys of Waitaki Boys' High School last night farewelled Mr. Lan Milner, New Zealand Rhodes scholar, who leaves to-morrow for the United States, en route to Oxford. Mr. R, G. Sellar, president of the Auckland branch of tho Old Boys' Association, presided, and there were present representatives of the Old Boys' Associations of Prince Albert College, Auckland Grammar School, Nelson College, Christ's College, King's College, and Mount Albert Grammar School, all of whom congratulated Mr. Milner, and expressed confidence that he would be a worthy representative, not only of Waitaki, but of all th© secondary schools of the Dominion. The Rev. Ivo Bertram, father of Mr. J. "M. Bertram, an old Waitakian who won a Rhodes scholarship two years ago, and is now at Oxford, and Mr. Clutha Mackenzie alsospoke. Mr. Milner made an eloquent reply.
