MILITARY BALL.
SCARLET AND BLUE UNIFORMS.
Pretty frocks and military uniforms of scarlet and blue, with brilliant lightin effects around the room and from the ceiling, wore to be seen at the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening when the military ball held by the New Zealand Territorial Association (Northern Command) took place.
The cabaret was charmingly decorated for the occasion with lines of streamers in pale lemon and orange, which formed a deep fringe around the ceiling and above the lloor. Clumps of greenery and bowls of bright flowers added a further touch. In the supper room bonfire salvias made gay decoration on the tables, and trails of autumn leaves supplied further colour. Excellent music was played and those tunes with a military ring proved very popular.
The guests were received on their arrival by Lady Guneon, who wore a frock of ring velvet in a deep wine shade; Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, who was in gold beaded net over peach toned satin; Mrs. J. E. Duigan, in black ring velvet with silver sequin embroideries; and Mrs. Eliot Davis, in a draped frock of parchment souple satin.
Members of the ladies' committee present were:—Lady Sinclair Lockhart, who wore black lace with gardenias in a shoulder spray; Mrs. R. G. Milligan, deep rose broche satin; Mrs. John Roborton, black lace and chiffon; Mrs. Owen Campbell, rose pink satin and lace; Mrs. G.
