MEMBER'S RESIGNATION. WHARFAGE DUES REDUCTION. ' (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CJPOTIKI, this day. At a meeting of the Borough Council, hold yesterday, a letter was' received from Mr. Jas. Main, of Kotorua, tendering his resignation as a member. He had previously v been granted three months' leave of absence.
•Mr. J. T. Thompson, who was unseated by Mr. G. S. Moody at the last Mayoral election, was appointed to the vacancy.
i At an adjourned meeting last night requests from the Opotiki Chamber of i Commerce and business firms for a re- ' duction of all wharfages were conj'sidered. Members pointed out that | Opotiki dues- were ■ much- Tower than those at Tauranga, Whak'atane and Gisborne. It was decided to make a reduction in respect of cattle and sheep, also to reply stating that in view of heavy expenditure at an early date on the wharf it was impossible to make a lieavy reduction.- • ...
