CHURCH FIRE.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday. Damage amounting to several hundreds of pounds was caused this morning by fire in St. David's Presbyterian Church, Colombo Street, Sydenham. Prompt action by the. brigade confined the damage principally to the rear of the building, but loss to the church was considerable as two pianos were affected by the fire and water. A Communion set, presented "at the foundation of the church in 1850, was blackened by flames. Church records were charred, and the walls separating the kitchen from the vestry and rafters were destroyed. The church proper, though filled with smoke, was not damaged.
