ATHENIAN CLUB.
The Amateur Operatic Society's rooms were brilliantly decorated 011 Saturday evening, when the Athenian Club held its first winter social gathering. The entertainment was called "My Lucky Day," and the stage was set with artistic arrangements of huge golden sunflowers, with glistening centres, which swayed to the bright jazz numbers supplied by a good orchestra. The president. Mr. Cecil Munro Emanuel, and Mrs. Emanuel, the latter wearing a frock of black georgette encrusted in ' diamante, received the guests. The assisting committee comprised: Mrs. Wilfred Wright, in a black and gold sequin frock; Mrs. H. Bagliurst, ciel blue ring velvet; Mrs. Guy, black lace; Miss Kirkby, cerise georgette and floral ninon; Miss Hazel Kainey, black ring velvet, white fur coat; and Messrs. P. Dawes and Smith. An excellent musical and vocal programme was rendered by the Clarion Four, Misses Beryl Smith, Lillian Wood, Winifred Hill, Messrs. Dun,can Blaek and Lambert Harvey, Campbell, Hayes, and Stark.
