WINTER CHESS

AUCKLAND CLUB TOURNEYS. A decision to open the winter season with a lightning tourney next Saturday night was made by the management committee of the Auckland Chess Club last evening. The following were appointed as a handicap and tournament committee: Messrs. D. I. Jones. H. Addis, A. Pickett and C. P. Belton. The level tournaments will be commenced on Monday, May 28, and the handicap tournament on Thursday, May 31. Messrs. Jones, Ogle and Addis were appointed an adjudication committee. It was ■ decided to hold an open handicap competition for ladies during the season.
