Reports from* the province show that the storm is general, and considerable damage has been done- Telegraph and telephone communication has been interrupted in some Early reports Indicate flooding in low-lying areas. Paeroa. —The Paeroa district to-day experienced one of the severest rainstorms known for some time. From the early morning heavy fell, and the "wind was of gale force. Streets and paddocks were flooded, and considerable damage was done locally in gardens and orchards. Waihi. —A cyclonic storm from the north-east set in early this morning, accompanied'by heavy rain. The barometer dropped suddenly by half an inch. Thames.I—An1 —An easterly gale, accompanied by heavy rain, which broke over the district early this morning, reached-its height about noon. Damage vrae reported to have been caused to fences, signboards and electric high tension lines. The town power supply ■WW put out of action for an hour. The rivers at noon were rising, and it was sHU raining. -•••
