TAKAPUNA CLUB. RACE FOR FELLOWSHIP CUP. The Takapuna Boating Club held the fiiml of a series of inter-club contests for the Fellowship (.'up on Sa-turday, when a crew from the Takapuna Club met a crew representing tlie Tamaki Yacht Club, and after a close race Takapuna retained the cup by a margin of 38 seconds. The Tamaki crew, Messrs. Warwick Jackson and Don. Blake, drew Betty. The Takapuna crew, Messrs. J. J. Mackay and Is". Matlieson, drew Me Too. Takapuna was first across the line when Ihe gun fired, Tamaki being two seconds astern. On the run home Takapuna gradually drew away from Tamaki, and the finish was: Me Too (Takapuna) 4h 9m ISs, Betty (Tamaki) 41i lira s(is. LAWLESS SHIELD. Six boats competed for the Lawless Shield. In this race the skipper changed places with the for'ard hand and the for'ard hand took the tiller. Trevic was first away, closely followed by Betty and Tamaki, with lolanthe, Naomi and Delphine following. Naomi is a Manukau boat, which came over to litis side for tlie race. The finish was: Betty, oh 22m 12s; Trevic, 3h 23m ; Tamaki. 3h 23ni; Delphi no. 3h 23m ss; lolanthe, 3h 2-lm 7s; and Naomi, .'ill 24m r>2s. The result was: Batty 1. Trevic and Tamaki, dead heat, 2, Delpliine 3. The winner was sailed by A. Pengelly. MACKAY CUP. This contest for the J. J. Mackay Cup was for members of the Takapuna Club over 35 years of age. The starters were: Me Too, Betty and Trevic, crossing the line in that order. Trevic took the lead soon after the start. The finish was: Trevic, 4h 54m 535; Betty, 5h Om 10s; Me Too, 5h Om 365. _ ' Result: Trevic, sailed by Mr. J. J. Mackay, 1 ; Betty, sailed by Mr. Warwick Jackson, 2; Mo Too, sailed by Mr. Norman Matlieson, 3. MANUKAU V. PONSONBY. KEEN CONTEST AT ONEIIUNGA. The second of the lnter-club contests between the Fonsonby and Manukau Model Yacht Clubs was held yesterday at Mill Bay, Onehunga. A light, steady sou'-west i wind gave a fair test and several close finishes were witnessed. Four-footers. —Manukau team: Kauri 11., Ace, Maybe. Ponsonby : Lena, Waitere, Clara C. All went off together and Lena slowlv drew ahead. The finish was: Lena JOli i»m 30s. Waitere lOli 20m 20s, Clara C. lOh 21m 30s. Kauri lOli 21m 355, Maybe lOli 22m 275, Ace retired. Four-footers (restricted). ■ — Manukau: Kauri 11., Maybe, Supplejack. Ponsonby: Scout, Lark, Enterprise. Another good race, resulting in a very close finish, 2s separating tin; leaders. Wllletts, dead-heat, 3. The Ponsonby score for the first two races totalled 28 points, Manukau 13. The local club entertained the visitors at lunch, and were thanked for their hospitality and good sporting spirit by Mr. Wilkinson, commodore of the Ponsonby Club. HERNE BAY CLUB. RACE FOR MIDGET CLASS. The Heme Bay Sailing Club held a race for their midget class on Saturday over the usual course. The usual skipper was replaced for this race by the for'ard hand, anil the boys competed for prizes offered by their own and the Ponsonby Cruising Cl Ali got away together in a light sou'-west breeze, and the finish was: Nancye -'ill 57m 20s Norena 31i 58m 50s, Hiker 4h lm ss, Blue Nose 4h 2m 7s. Twenty-nine of the 32 entrants for the annual face over a harbour course for model yachts started on Saturday off the Orakei wharf in perfect weather conditions. The race created great interest, the crack boats of the Ponsonby, Orakei and Manukau Clubs taking part. The boats started together at -..>0 p.m., and on the lead to Sandspit Lena drew clear followed bv Akarana, Bullet. Alert and Crusader, 'it was a beat up to Resolution and Lena sailed a good course, with Crusader second, Alert, Akarana and Waitere being next. On the run to the finish, Crusader got away from lier skipper, who broke an oar and retired. Buckland) won Mr. J. Searle's prize of suit of sails, by 20s from lorangi oil handicap. Gordon " Bevin's lorangi being the first 3-footer to finish, wins Mr. Wilkinson's flag lor this class. Avenger had an unusual experience, being caught up by the propeller of the cargo steamer Fife, which was proceeding down the harbour on her way from Chelsea to Westport, and in spite of every effort to keep clear she went across tlie track of several of the competitors. The model was whirled round, losing her mast, rigging and keel, but the hull was later saved by !ier owner, who had the good sense to keep well clear. Mr. W. A. Wilkinson was starter and i timekeeper, and Mr. A. R. Bevins judge. Mr. Fred Jeffers' launch Nyria was the official boat, and followed the competitors round the course. Amongst the large number of spectators on the end of Orakei wharf were Mr. Ernest Davis, donor of the first prize, Mr. ,T. Park, president of the Manukau Club, Mr. V. M. Dickinson, commodore of the Dunedin Mod el Yacht Club, and Mr. Wilson. a member of the Model Yacht Club of Natal. _
