NEW RABBIT BOARD.
AREA NEAR PTJKEKOHE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Monday. Two petitions were received at today's meeting of the Franklin County Council, one in favour signed by 20 ratepayers and one against signed by 17 ratepayers relating to a proposal to form a rabbit district for the territory from Murphy's, Puni, across the Soldiers' Settlement and back of Pukekohe Hill to Parker's Lane Road, Buckland. The county clerk, Mr. A. P. Day, stated that the matter did not concern the council very much as it was really only a proposal for the formation of another rating authority within the county. On the motion of the chairman, Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P., the council decided to hold the matter over until the May meeting, and to ask the petitioners to define the proposed territory more clearly.
