LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
BOARD OF CONTROL SENIOR OPENING DATE. The Auckland Rugby League Board of Control, with Mr. Grey Campbell presiding. met laet evening, when it was decided that nominations for the senior grade teams would, close on the 18th instant, and that the competitions should commence on the 28th instant. The championship will consist of three rounds, the management reserving the right that the four leading teams should be selected to hasten the final if necessary. An application by Devonport United to play the Huntly Club at Devonport on April 21 was approved. Mr. R. Doble was appointed sitting delegate to the New Zealand Council, with Mr. G. Grey Campbell as direct delegate. The board resolved that it was desirable that the Referees' Appointment Board should consist of two members of the management and a representative of tlie Referees' Association. Mr. Rukutai was nominated a member in the meantime. Arising out of a general discussion on the advisability of broadcasting matches from Carlaw Park, it was decided to make formal applicataion to the Government. Clubs are to be asked to submit nominations for three selectors. Regarding privileges and the new grandstand at Carlaw Park, there was considerable discussion, and it was decided that vice-president tickets would admit a lady and gentleman to ground only for matches in the coming season.
