DARGAVILLE NOTES.

The annual meeting of the Dargaville Women's Institute was held, when the following officers were duly elected: President, Mrs. C. H. Crump (re-elected); committee, Mesdames G. L. Haines, A. L. Williams, Raymond Gibson, P. W. Hill, W. S. Neal (all re-elected), A. E. Harding, H. F. Wilkinson, D. A. Williams, Misses T. Brown and Thompson. A most successful garden fete was held in aid of tho X-ray plant at the Te Kopuru Hospital. An assemblage of well over a thousand people almost overflowed the spacious lawns of the hospital grounds. The organising committee comprised Mrs. B. R. Bell (secretary), Mrs. J. A. Marshall (hon. treasurer), assisted by Messrs. F. A. Jones, P. R. Walden, F. Watters, F. Clendon Gould and Dr. J. A. Marshall. The stalls were in charge respectively of Mesdames A. Morgan, B. S. Angus, F. C. Gould, C. H. Crump, W. S. Neal, A. L. Williams, W. H. Hilliard, A. E. Finlayson, H. Massey, F. S. Goulding, R. Harding, O. G. Bramwell, 0. Dunsford, E. R. Munn, W. A. Haden, M. C. Astley, G. S. Mitohell, J. B. Fischer, J. R. Alderson, G. N. Hayes, Misses B. Watters, J. Stubbs, E. Bassett. During the afternoon Scotch dances were given by Misses J. Montgomery, S. Hughes and L. Rowlands. Prizewinners in various competitions were: Miss N. Clifton, Mrs. S. Blake, Mrs. T. Brady, Nurse Fenton, Mrs. A. Morgan, Miss Joy Wordsworth, MrS. F. Clendon-Gould, Miss Audrey Cliffe, Miss Nell Andrewes, Miss P. Massey, Mrs. Hay, Mrs. D. Tidey, Miss Pam Marshall and Mrs. B. R. Bell. A delightful eurhythmic display under the direction of Miss Eileen Kelly was greatly appreciated. Those taking part included Misses D. Maich, P. Marshall, G. Davidson, June Cave, Lois Hansen, G. Bickers, A. Martin, J. Hansen, J. Martin, M. Maich, D. Searle, 11. Andrews, D'Arcy Kidd, B.,Guy, B. Marshall and H. Cave. The annual meeting of the Mothers' Union, Te Kopuru, was held in St. Peter's Church, when the following officers were elected:—President, Mrs. W. H. Styoh; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. A. Morgan and W. A. Haden; committee, Mesdames C. Dix, G. R. Rope and Andrews.
