EDDIE CANTOR'S COMEDY.

"ROMAN SCANDALS" FOR REGENT-

Ancient Rome in all its Imperial glory, colour and reckless gaiety is the setting for "Roman Scandals," in which Eddie Cantor and those daring Goldwyn girls, remembered from "The Kid From Spain," will be seen at.the Regent to-morrow. "Roman Scandals" is Eddie's fourth annual screen musical comedy for Samuel Goldwyn, and is said to eclipse its predecessors with Cantor in his most hilarious role as the man ivlio knew Caesar. The pageantry and the spectacle of that day, with its marching legions in burnished armour, the arenas and the bloody games, the slave girls in chains and the Emperors favourites in garlands of flowers, the glitter and pomp of a stately court and thundering steeds tearing their chariots through clouds of dust with Eddie Cantor out-doing Ben TTur as a crashing charioteer in a thrilling race, all helped to give Goldwyn an opportunity for another of his famous lavish productions. It is only a setting, however, for the simple and human comedy that was written for the pop-eyed comedian, in which the grace and the glory of classic antiquity is contrasted to the Latin warmth of colour that distinguished "The Kid From Spain.' Before Cantor comes to the chariot raco, in which nine thundering teams race madly across the country in pursuit of the fleeing Eddie, lie has many other adventures. Disguised in blackface, he steals into the Imperial court, where the world's beauties are prepared and glorified. A new Walt Disney coloured "Silly Symphony," entitled "The China Shop." and an organlogue entitled "Memories" are among the selected short subjects to be screened with "Roman Scandals" at the Regent.
