SHEEP WORRIED.
DOGS CAUSE TROUBLE.
DANGEROUS ALSATIANS.
COMPLAINTS AT DUNEIHN.
(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.")
DUNBDIN, this day.
Complaints of the depredations of Alsatian dogs on a sheep farm just outside the city boundary have been made to the Dunedin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals by a produce firm, which states that the dogs dis-
cmbowclled on© slieep, and, although one of the dogs was shot, the other managed to escape. The danger of allowing this breed to be near sheep could not be overstressed, a member stated. It was not the society's duty to take action against a man who owned an Alsatian dog, but if it did damage the society could then act in the matter. The only course to follow was to approach Parliament in an effort to have legislation passed to protect stock from these animals. They were one-man dogs and when out of control might do anything. The Chairman: We could legitimately take action in this case, although it is really a matter for the police. Apparently the beet course would be to ask the Government to prohibit the importation of Alsatian dogs, said the chairman. Further consideration of the matter was postponed until there was a larger attendance.
