A MILITARY BALL.
NORTH AUCKLAND REGIMENT.
The annual ball of the First Battalion ! of the North Auckland Regiment was 1 held last evening at the naval base at • Devonport, and was a thoroughly suecessful function. The martial decorations and colourful uniforms gave an . added tone of gaiety. The walls were draped with multi-coloured flags, and , the orchestra from a raised dais on one j side of the dance floor rendered military ( numbers and the latest dance items. A } buffet supper was served in an adjoin- , ing room. _ I The guests were received by Colonel C. S. White, V.D., commanding officer , of the regiment, and Mrs. White, the , latter wearing a gown of blush rose . wind-swept satin, trimmed with diamante, and white fur wrap. The committee were: Mesdames C. S. White, , Clarke-Walker, Downey and McElroy, Misses Ina Wight, Scanlan and Collinson, Captain P>. Downey (chairman), Lieutenant A. Robertson (treasurer) and Lieutenant T. V. Fitzpatrick i (secretary). '. : Among those present were: Mrs. Charlton, in blue and white georgette; Mrs. H. O. Wiles, beige lace, relieved with fur; Mrs. McCombes, black lace; Mrs. Clarke Walker, white crepe suede; Mrs. Murphy, white satin; Mrs. L. Rudd, primrose georgette; Mrs. Fitzpatric, black ring velvet; Mrs. Wickfiteed, black Chantilly lace; Mrs. Greville, black georgette; Mrs. A. L. Dodd (Helensvilie), black and gold embossed taffeta; Mrs. H. H. Wood, deep violet velvet; Mrs. Wooler, green figured organdie; Mrs. B. C. B. Brooke, jade green chenille georgette; Mrs. H. S. Wisdom' (Fiji), black corded silk, with pink lace godets; Mrs. de Clive Lowe, opal blue georgette; Mrs. Blomfield, royal blue crepe faille; Mrs. Hastings, lacquer red satin; Mrs. H. M. McElroyd, black lace, relieved with diamante; Miss Joan Hudson, turquoise blue ninon; Miss Ina Wight, purple satin and shoulder spray of cactus dahlias; Mis 3 R. Birsliaw, orange taffeta ; Miss Audrey Hutchinson, ciel j blue chiffon; Miss Allison, white angel skin lace; Miss E. Martin, black glace silk; Miss P. Cat.chpole, floral green silk; Miss Marjorie Tiarks, jade crepe faille; Miss Brigham, black chiffon and diamante; Miss Alison Bell, almond o-reen faille; Miss E.
