Clay, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, and Mr. H. B. Burnett, superintendent to the board, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. E. W. Taylor, accountant to the Xaranaki Hospital Board, has been appointed accountant to the "YVaikato Hospital Board out of 90 applicants for the position. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ridgcn, of "Brooklyn," Greendaie, and Miss Ridge 11, join the Monowai for Sydney at Wellington to-morrow, connecting with, the Orford on March 14 for England. Lieutenant-Commander Walter. K. Queen, United States Xavv, who was chief engineer of the Byrd expedition, ship Jacob Ruppert, is to join the Monterey for San Francisco at Auckland oa Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. du Cros and Mr. C. H. Hyde returned tc Auckland from Russell yesterday, and are at Hotel Cargen. They will leave by car oil Saturday for Wellington, to join the Rangitiki for London. Dr. R. Francis Stenliouse, formerly house surgeon at the Dunedin Public Hospital, will sail by the Tuscan Star from Auckland on Monday for London, wlier.e he will take a post-graduata course in medicine. Mr. G. S. Morris, dredging engineer for the Lyttelton Harbour Board, commenced six months' leave on Monday, prior to his retirement from the board's service after 30 years as superintending engineer of the dredges Manchester and Canterbury. Mr. John Anderson, who has been an. officer of the Christchurch Football Club for 00 years, was presented at his home on Tuesday evening with an address of appreciation by- the club captain and the deputy-captain, Messrs. G, H. Frater and A. I. Cottrell. Mr. Jabez Gadsden, tlie governing director of J. Gadsden and Company, Ltd., and his wife, are on a brief visit to New Zealand, having arrived at Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney on Monday. They will spend a week each in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland before returning to Australia. Mr. Ralph Sierakowski, of the Empiro Hotel, Christchurch, lnis left for a health and business visit to Britain, France, Germany and America. He will travel to Sydney and join the Strathnaver there, travelling to Britain via Suez and returning across the Pacific. Mrs. Sierakowski is accompanying her husband. At a recent meeting of the North Otago Hospital Board Dr. R. E. Be vanBrown, of Oamaru, was appointed to the position of medical superintendent of the Oamaru Hospital. Dr. BevanBrown will take up his duties in October, and in the meantime he intends to visit hospitals in New Zealand and Australia in order to study prescut-iLiy methods of hospital administration. Sir Michael Nairn, head of the firm of Michael Nairn and Company, linoleum manufacturers, of Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire, Scotland, Lady Nairn, and family party of four, will arrive in Sydney this week by the Strathnaver. After visiting places of interest in Australia, tha party will come on to New Zealand. So far their itinerary in this country has not been defined. They have booked, however, to leave Auckland on May 1 for Vancouver, en route to England."
