The former issue jumped from £1 5/ 'to £1 5/5 and £1 5/4, which sales wcri ■ reported at the call. The higher of tin ■ two of to-day is the best sale for severa years. Buyers jumped 3d, from £ 1 5/ t< £1 5/3, while sellers remain steady a £1 5/6. A year ago these shares wen ■ changing hands at under "one guinea. Burns, Philp are a stock which an .firmly held. On the Sydney Stock Exchange to-day the trend of values was firmer, and there was much activity in mining issues. Bulolo gold went from £6 13/ to £7. Commonwealth bonds also hardened.
