PALMERSTON NORTH WAS CAUGHT IN THE TRAIL.—A certain amount of damage was caused by the 'quake in Palmerston, w'lere a number of chimneys and plate glass windows suffered. The most severe dama was the wrecking of a portion of Collmson and Sons' premises. Fifty feet of this wall crashed through the roof of the adjoining shop and piled up a heap of broken brick work on the counters below.
