TINDILL TOPS THOUSAND.
AN OVERSEAS TEAM WANTED. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. When batting for Midland in the match against Institute at the Basin Reserve on Saturday, E. W. Tindill required only 10 runs to complete his 1000 for the season, lie wus not long In reaching the necessary figure, but was caught at 14, one of his smallest scores of the season. This made his grand total 1004. He has the fine average of 55.77. The advisability of endeavouring to arrange tours by overseas teams well before they are due to take place was emphasised at a meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association, which decided to ask the New Zealand Cricket Council to make an effort to secure a visit to the Dominion next season, or, failing that, to give the Wellington Association permission to act in that direction. The chairman. Mr. Percy Broad, said it was recognised that the council was trying to get an M.C.C. team next year, but, if that tour did not eventuate, the possibility of securing a team from India should be considered.
