AUCKLAND CLUB,
The report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Auckland Golf Club on April 14 states that the membership at the close of the year was as follows:—Playing members 175, playing youths 17, limited members 40, country members 14, non-playing members 57, life members 5, boy members 50.
Pennant matches were inaugurated during the year, and the club won the pennants for both the A and B grades. The congratulations of the club are extended to those members who took part in the various matches played. Owing to the alteration in the conditions for j)luy, the committee regrets that the club will not be a competitor in these matches for the forthcoming season.
The Auckland provincial championship meeting will be held at Easter at Titirangi, to be followed by the Kirk-Windeyer Cup contest at Middlemore. Both these events will afford members an opportunity of witnessing the best players of Australia and New Zealand in action. The club's course should be in tirst-class order for play at the commencement of the season. The fairways have responded to the treatment given during the year and to the effect of the new machine purchased during the season. The greens show promise of improvement.
The committee records with regret the loss through death of Sir Alfred Bankart, Messrs. W. Brander, F. Hull, A. E. Kernot and Dr. W. 11. Parkes.
The financial position of the club as disclosed by the balance-sheet shows a slight improvement, compared with the previous year. Having regard to the abnormal times through which the club, in common with other clubs, has been passing, the committee feels that the result disclosed can bo regarded as satisfactory.
