RACING AT TE RAPA.

THE SUMMER MEETING.

FIELDS FOE TO-MORROW. RECENT FORM REVIEWED. The summer meeting 'of the Waikato Racing Club will open at Te Rapa tomorrow, and with the excellent fields engaged there should be some good racing, and the meeting should be a successful one. The win and place system of betting will be used. The Trial Stakes. The Trial Stakes, with which the meeting opens, has attracted a field of twenty, but as it is for horses that have not won a race of any description, Lagoon, who scored at Pukekohe on Saturday, cannot start. Her stable companion, Mungaere, ran a good race at the same meeting, and should be improved. Ballymoney did not finish on as solidly as expected at Pukekohe, but he is a likely improver. Englishman was placed in a couple of high-weight handicaps at the Rotorua meeting in February. Arawa Rose was placed in the Hack Cup, seven furlongs, at Waipa, and finished third in the Moana Handicap, six furlongs, at the last Takapuna meeting. Calcutta, Curlew, Springtime and Lady Diana have had some racing, but there is little to commend the others. A preference may be shown for MUNGACRE, ARAWA ROSE ENGLISHMAN. The Hurdles. Cruaclian has raced consistently over hurdles during the last few weeks, and after his success at Pukekohe on Saturday he will not be neglected in the Frankton Hurdles. Riotous has not raced since he fell at Te Aroha, and he may be better suited by the left-handed going at Te Rapa. He had raced prominently over hurdles in the south prior to going to Te Aroha. Brown Abbey has now won at his only two starts over hurdles, and he scored so nicely at Te Aroha that he will be in request. Ruby Meteor ran second in the hurdles to Mia Stella on the first day of the spring meeting on this course, and won the next day. Since then she has been placed twice at the Taranaki Christmas meeting. Sir Musk won the Corunna Hack Hurdles at Trentham last July, and has since been placed at the Taumarunui meeting, held at Paeroa. Yal Watch showed promise for a novice when raced over hurdles at Te Aroha, leading into the straight with Cruachan on the first day. St. Ames and Unoco look the best of the remainder. Most money may go on BROWN ABBEY CRUACHAN RIOTOUS. The Two-Year-Olds. Roval Appellant heads the Juvenile Handicap field, and after his success at Te Aroha he will have plenty of support. King Brierly won earlier in the season at Paeroa and subsequently scored at Thames, while he was also second at the latter fixture. Namakia has some speed and is a likely improver, while Cynara and Lifeguard (who made a good showing till the straight in the Tuakau Stakes at Pukekohe last Saturday) appeal most of the others. The chief selections may be ROYAL APPELLANT KING BRIERLY NAMAKIA. The Storey Memorial. The Storey Memorial is the chief event of the day. Master Brierly won the Hcrries Memorial in good style at Te Arona, and on the next day, with lib less than he has to carry to-morrow, ran an excellent third in the Presidents Handicap, one mile and a quarter. He is meeting King March and Knight of Australia, who dead-heated three-quarters of a length in front of him, on much better terms than he did on that occasion. He galloped well at Ellerslie yesterday morning. King March has raced most consistently during the last few weeks and a reproduction of his Te Aroha and Riccarton form will again make him hard to beat. Knight of Australia is improving with racing and his third and a dead-heat for first in the big races at Te Aroha are excellent credentials. Master Norval failed at Te Aroha but Aga Khan showed that lie was not far from his best by being one These SeS thetart ofV field .ml the public may show a preference for KNIGHT OF AUSTRALIA AGA KHAN. MASTER BRIERLY. Linley Hack Handicap. King Mestor has the solid impost ol O.LO in the Linley Hack, or 51b more when he .accounted for the E Handicap, six furlongs, at Te i Aroha. Killarlar in the Wairakau .Handicap, furlongs. and Jonathan in the Farewell Handicap at the same fixture with 0.0, a similar impost to that which she has to carry to-morrow Boughal is also engaged and they will both be in demand. British Columbia was well beaten in the latter race, 'tradesman is said to bo a doubtful starter. L Allegro is a good sort when right, whne Sinking Fund has plenty of pace. Diagano won a hack event in good time at Te Aroha, but was fifth in the open seven on the second day of the same meeting, and will improve. Lucidus, who is also engaged, was fourth in the farewell Handicap at Te Aroha. Those that may be best fancied are GAY SHEILA BOUGHAL DIAGANO. The Concluding Event. The day's sport will conclude with the Beerescourt Hack. Ruri will not be a starter, and the favourites may be DON'T LAP D'ATJTAGNAN. MISS LULU. A special train will leave Auckland each day at 8.16 a.m. and Newmarket at 8.24 a.m. and will return after the last race. Special day excursion tickets at exceptionally cheap rates will be issued.
