WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
NEW LYNN. The New Lynn Women's Institute held their usual general meeting in the Foresters' Hall on Monday, Mrs. Howson presiding over a good attendance. It was proposed and carried that a dramatic society bo formed. Mrs. Simpson, _ of Avondale, gave a sketch. It was decided to send. Mrs. Howson as delegate with remits to the Wellington conference in July; also that Mrs. Winship (delegate), accompanied by Mrs. Howson, go to the bi-annual conference to represent New Lynn. The hostesses were Mesdames Horridge, White and Goldstone. TE UKU. The Te Uku Women's Institute's annual show was held last month. The entries totalled about 400. The children's section was also very good. Results were as follow: Points' prizes for cut flowers, Mrs. Cleland 1, Mrs. .T. H. Dent 2; decorations, Mrs. F. Peart 1, Mrs. J. H. Dent 2; cooking, Mrs. Featherstonhaugh 1, Mrs. Harsant 2; needlework, Miss C. Death 1, Miss Strong 2; preserves, Mrs. F. Peart 1, Mrs. Clarke 2; vegetables and fruit, Mrs. J. H. Dent 1, Mrs. A. Peart 2; arts and crafts, Mrs. Featherstonhaugh 1, Mrs. J. H. Dent 2. In the children's section points prizes were won by June Checkly 1, Mary Featherstonhaugh 2. The judges were Mr. and Mrs. V. Pegler, Mrs. Hardev and Miss Eolfe, Mesdames Bollard and" Cochrane and Mr. 0. Lusty. Children's section, Mesdames V. Pegler _yiH Hardey 3 and Miss Itolfe.
