MR. A. A. McINTYRE.

The inaugurator of the first coach service between Napier and Gieborne, Mr. Alexander Annan Mclntyre, died at tho former town on March 1, aged S8 years. Born in Paisley, Scotland, Mr. Mclntyre camo to New Zealand about 75 and went to the gold diggings at Gabriel's Gully. Some yeais later 110 moved to Hawke's and engaged in farming in the Puketitiri district. 0 Ho accepted the position of postmaster at Puketitiri, and for 15 yeais conducted the Napier-Puketitiri mail coach service. Sixteen years ago Mr. Mclntyre sold his farm at Puketitiri, and went to live in Napier. He leaves his w r idow and the following family, tho children being by a former marriage:— Mrs. H. Lean, of Palmerston North; Mrs. W. Fox, of Feilding; Mrs. L. C. Brice, of Moliaka; Mrs. W. C. Robertson, of Bay View; Mrs. A. Todd, of Rissington; Mr. A. R. Mclntyre, of Auckland, and Mr. W. Mclntyre, of Mohaka.
