DARGAVILLE FAREWELL
PRESBYT2EIAN MINISTER.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Tuesday. The Rev. N. O. White, of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, who ha-s moved to Takapuna, was last evening farewellcd by a large gathering in the St. Andrews Hall. After seven years' service in this district, Mr. White lias, made many friends, and, with Mrs. Whit© and family, lias had a share in the social and material development of the district. Speakers paid a tribute to the unselfish manner in which Mr. White had carried out his duties. The speakers included the Mayor, Mr. F. A. Jones, the Revs. G. R. Monteith (Anglican), W. S. Xeal (Methodist), Captain Brownlee* (Salvation Army), Father de "Voider (Roman Catholic) and Rev. W. Elliott, of the North Auckland Presbytery (Wliangarei), Messrs. C. N. Taylor and H. F. Wilkinson. The Rev. J. D. Macfarlano (Waipu), moderator for the district, presided. On behalf of the congregation Mr. T. Martindale asked Mr. White to accept a pair of comfortable armchairs, a crockery cabinet for himself and Mrs. White "and suitablo presents for each member of the family. Mrs. Whit® could not be present owing to serious illness. The speakers paid tributes to her devotion to the work of the Church. In replying, Mr. White said he had never stayed as long—seven years —at any place, as he had at Dargaville, and ho assured his hearers that he was not leaving because he did not like tlio place. Ho appreciated references to his work in this district, particularly that of tho children, for he always liked to bo among tho children, particularly the young ones.
