BODY IN PADDOCK.

PLOUGHMAN'S DEATH. YOUNG REPOROA FARMER. WAS TEAM OUT OF CONTROL T (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this clay. Yesterday afternoon a young man named Terence Hancock, eon of Mr. R. Hancock, one of the best-known farmers in the Reporoa district, was found dead in a paddock lying beside his overturned plough. There were no eye-witnesses of the accident, but it is believed that the young man must have fallen in front of the plough while trying to get his team under control. When discovered the body was lying near the overturned plough. There was a deep gash in the head, and the ground in the vicinity was soaked with blood. The young ploughman had been engaged ploughing 011 broken country for fiome days. He was experienced in that work. He was driving a double furrow plough with a team of four horses, one of whicli is believed to have been rather difficult to manage. He was seen at noon ploughing, but about 2 o'clock a man 011 a neighbouring property observed that the plough was lying overturned. It is surmised that deceased was either clearing the front of the plough when the horses moved, or else that the team became restless and he fell in front of the blades while trying to get the liorscs under control. An inquest was opened at Wharepawa, and after the hearing of preliminary evidence was adjourned sine die.
