IXION CLUB'S SPORTS. MINIATURE T.T.'S AT AVONDALE. There was an attendance of 1500 at Tloisebank Park, Avondale, on Saturday for the Ixion Motor Cycle Club's miniature tourist trophy races. The t ra was officially opened by Mr. J. v.I'aterson, chairman of the parks committee of the City Council. Results: Rosebank Minor Championship. 4 laps, for side-valve machines of not more than oo) c.c. or overhead-valve machines under ,J 4o c.c. —L. McLaren (330 c.c. A.J.S.) Stuart.- (230 c.c. Ariel) 2, E. Hieatt (000 c.c 8.5.A.) 3. Time, 5.1 1-5. Junior Championship. C laps, for machines 350 c.c. or under. —First heat: L. al ]d (A,.T.5.1 1. C. Wilson (New Hudson) — Time, 7.56 1-5. Second heat: L. McLaren (A..1.8.1 1, 1.. Moore (A-.T.5.) 2, Time, 0.45. Final : L. McLaren (350 c.c. A.J.S.) 1. C. Wilson (350 c.c. New Hudson) !*• Moore (A.J.S.), the only other starter, retired In the fourth lap. Won easily. Time, 6.46 3-5. Senior Championship. 8 laps, for machines of 500 c.c. or under. —First heat: A. Barley (Norton) 1 L. Nixon (8.5.A.) 2. Won easily. Barley made a good start, but fell and remounted again, taking the lead in the third lap. Time, 9.0 3-3. Second heat: B. Brav (Norton) 1, H. Tetley (Norton) 2. Bray held the lead throughout, both Petley and Matthews having several falls. Matthews was running second up to the fifth lap, but was passed by Tetley after a fall. Time, 8.53 4-5. Third heat: J. Dale (Kudge) 1, A. Mattson (Norton) 2. Dale led at the start and by good riding maintained the lead until passed l)y Mattson in the fourth lap. Later a fall by Mattson gave Dale the lend again. Time, 8.59 4-5. First semi-final : B. Bray (Norton) 1, J. Dale (Kudge) 2. Dale again rode splendidly, but was outgeneralled by Bray, who shot ahead in the fifth lap. Time, 8.35. Second semi-final: A. Mattson (Norton) 1; H. Tetley (Norton) 2. Tetley and Mattson rode in close company, Tetley making the most of a good start. Mattson did not gain the lead until entering the last lap. Time, , U. 44 4-5.
Final.—B. Bray (500 c.c. Norton) 1, J. Dale (500 c.c. Norton) 2, H. Tetley (500 c.c. Norton). 3. Dale and Bray shot away together, Dale taking the lead. For several laps only a few feet separated the two riders, who out distanced the rest of the field. In the last lap, when Dale looked a certain winner, Bray made a fine effort and gained the decision by a narrow margin. Tetley was well behind, in third position. Mattson, who was also competing, was last away at the drop of the flag, and after two laps started to drop back, and finished almost a lap behind. Time, 8.19 4-5.
