RAIN AGAIN.

INCONCLUSIVE CRICKET. ALL MATCHES DRAWN. GAMES ABRUPTLY ENDED. The eighth series of matches in the A.CA. senior championship concluded on Saturday in unsatisfactory circumstances. Rain had precluded play for the opening day the previous week and thus cut down the games to one-day matches. After play on Saturday had been in progress for about three hours on firm, fast wickets, a sudden heavy fall of rain occurred, and eventually put an end to the games, all of which were drawn. Most progress was made at North Shore, where the home team declared with 258 runs on for six wickets, and Ponsonby, in a bad light, lost sine wickets for 82 runs before an appeal against the failing light was successful. At Eden Park, the Eden team declared with 210 runs up for two wickets, and Y.M.C.A. had lost one for 21 when stumps were drawn. Parnell did not shape happily against University and had lost six for 179 when play ceased. Grafton declared with 201 on for seven, and when the rain set in King's Old Boys had lost one wicket for five runs. Mills, of Eden, made the best individual score of the day of 118 not out, and Carson, of the same team, made 81 not out. WJth 89 not out for Parnell, Vivian justmissed his century, being the only batsman of the team to master the university attack. For North Shore Webb made 67, Bush 64 and Curtayne 51 not out. Guiney (47) and Hockin (45 not out) were Grafton's chief scorers on the day. Saunders, with six for 18 against Ponsonby, and S. G. Smith five for 89 for King's against Grafton, were the outstanding Dowlers of the afternoon. Position of the teams :— Outright Ist Ins. No reP. W. L. W. L. suit pts.
