TRIALS AT EPSOM.
CIMARRON GOES FAST. MOKO GIRL ALSO IMPRESSES. The final workouts in connection with the Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting were held on the dirt track at Alexandra Park, Epsom, this morning. The weather was fine, and the going was good. Auto Machine was first out, and was allotted strong work over two miles, the last in 1.13 2-5. Moko Girl and Tryniint were companions oyer a mile and a quarter, the former being in front from the start, recording 2.52, the last half-mile taking 1.8 2-0. Moko Girl looks a picture, and licr prospects appear to be bright. Red Frontier took 2.59 2-5 for a similar distance, the last half-mile taking 1.10. This maiden is improving all the time, and should be a good proposition for novice events on the country circuit. Brentlight conceded Lucky Love 30s over a mile and a quarter, and beat her easily in 2.53 3-5, the lust half-mile being traversed in 1.8. Lucky Love tired badly over the concluding stages, and registered 3.2. The two-year-old by Frank vv orthy—Waterfall worked over a mile in 2.28 1-5, coming home over the last half-mile in 1.11 2-5. Realty was allotted strong unhoppled work, and is quite free from soreness. Our Franz and Nelson Luvan were associated over a mile and a half in 3.43, the last half being covered in 1.8 1-5, Nelson Luvan being a length in front at the finish. Ivewpie's Triumph, Stanmoor, Ngingongingo, Dan Direct, Glandore and Cimarron went away in that order from the mile and a half post. Cimarron broke at the start, and lost about 6s. Ivewpie's Triumph led over the first mile in 2.24, from Glandore, Dan Direct, Cimarron, Stanmoor and Ngingongingo. The lastnamed broke at this stage, and dropped back, being about forty yards from the leaders when he settled down again. Ivewpie's Triumph was the first to straighten up for home from Cimarron, Stanmoor, Glandore and Dan Direct, with Ngingongingo a couple of lengths further back. Kewpie's Triumph stayed on to beat Cimarron by half a length, with Glandore and Stanmoor together, about a length away, with Dan Direct and Ngingongingo bringing up the rear. Kewpie's Triumph registered 3.30, the last half taking 1.6, while Cimarron went the full distance in 3.25 1-5. It was a very impressive trial by Cimarron, who, after losing such a lot of ground, was staying on solidly at the end. Star Pronto and Free Gift went away together from the mile and a quarter post, but after going once round Free Gift broke and was pulled up. Star Pronto continued on, and recorded 2.52, the last half-mile taking 1.4 2-5. This was a particularly impressive effort.. Peter Junior, Stalky and Young Rodney, with Mountain Sun about 5s further back, jumped away at the mile and a quarter post, but after going two furlongs Stalky collided with the rails and was pulled up. Peter Junior led over the first mile in 2.24, but then started to pace, and was pulled, Young Rodney taking up the running, but at the straight entrance Mountain Sun headed him and beat him by two lengths in 2.54, Young Rodney's time being 2.58 2-5.-Wilma Dillon worked over a mile and a half, and came home over the last half in 1.6 2-5. Silver Bingen worked unhoppled over three circuits, but was not after time.
L. F. Berkett's team, Bronte, Arioti Axworthy, Raydus and Admiral Wrack, arrived from the South yesterday, and were allotted strong work this morning. They all look well.
