SHOOTING TRAGEDY.

GUN USED TO REACH FRUIT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIROA, Wednesday. The death occurred, in unusual circumstances, at Putunanu Station this morning, , of - Mr. Robert Drysdale, single, aged 27 years. Mr. Drysdale used a shotgun to knock some fruit off a tree, failing to realise that the weapon was loaded. The impact caused the gun to explode and he received the full charge in liis chest. Death was instantaneous.

Mr. Drysdale was very popular locally. He had been in the employ of the East Coast Rabbit Board for a considerable period.
