FISHING REPORTS.

TONGARIRO IN FLOOD. SOME RECENT CATCHES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TURANGI, Wednesday. Tho Tongariro early tliis week rose eome Sin, which unfortunately was not enough to entice the fish ''to run." But last night it rose some 2ft, and it was in flood this morning. Previously it had been very low and fish were hard to get. Although there were only a few rods on the river no good baskets were taken, six fish for a day by Mr. Prain, of Wellington, being as good a bag as any. All the fish taken arc in good condition and. fight well. Guests at Taylor's Camp include Mr. and Mrs. Patterson (Scotland), Mr., Mrs. and Miss Scott (England), Mr. Roddick (Liverpool), Major Holmes (Scotland), Commander Rhodes (Christcliurch) —all these have taken a few fish each day. The best was one of lljlb from the Log, caught by Mr. Bcgg (Wellington). Other good fifth include one of BMb (Mr. Roddick, and one of 6£lb (Mr. J. Bibby), both from the Rip. Of the lady anglers a fish of 61b from the Log, taken by Mrs. Pawlctt, was the best. When fish have been caught "in" at the Delta, rods have had a great time, limits being taken by Captain Stanier (Rotorua), Captain Kay (Rotorua), Mr. Wilson (Wanganui),"amongst others. Eish up to 101b were included in these catches. Probably the best bag for the season taken in the short time at his disposal was four fish of 371b taken by Ranger MacXama ra. Anglers are very well pleased with the keenness shown by the ranger. An official visit was paid to Western Bay at tho beginning of tho week. "Fish in great condition and in any I quantity" is the report. Trolling par- ■ ties have d'one well, Mrs. _ Hayes ami Ransley (Taumarunui) taking 18 fish in a short day, and Mr. Johnson (Taumarunui) and another 17. A Wanganui party took 2S fish over tho week-end. Until the river gets in flood no real fishI ing can be expected.
