TAURANGA NEWS.
At the Church of England parish halt liist night a large gathering of the parishioners and others met le bid farewell to Mr. Kenneth Liggett, who has been organist nnd choirmaster for the past six vears. Eulogistic references were made by the vicar, Rev. O. S. O. Gibson, and the people's warden. Mr. S. G. Willcock, to the excellent service rendered by Mr. Liggett, not only to the church, but to the community generally in musical circle?. Mr. Liggett, who was presented with a cheque from church organisations, proceeds to Auckland shortly to enter St. John's College with a view of taking Holy Orders. Opportunity was also taken at the gathering to welcome Mr. Liggetfs successor, Mr. Herbert Webb, formerly of Hawera. A special train conveying a large party of natives from East Coast districts passed through this morning. Many joined the train here, all en route to Waitangi. Whep the train left here the party numbered about six hundred.
