MAN FOUND SHOT.

RIFLE LYING- NEARBY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, this day. The body of Percy Gordon Carey (33), was found with a bullet wound in the temple at his home in Patea shortly before 8 a.m. yesterday. A discharged .303 rifle was found near the body. The discovery was made by Mr, S. Besley, of Whenuakura, who called to see Carey regarding work. He saw the body seated on a bed. Carey, who was employed at the Patea freezing works, was a married man living apart from his wife. Occupants of the house adjoining do not recall hearing a shot, but neighbours state that they heard a report similar to a rifle shot in the early hours of the morning.
