Nine started. Won by half a length.. Time, 2.36. Lavington, who has been out of luck lately, and Clangor, who van second ill the Encourage Stakes, were t>oth trained by Lorigan. McFliun), 3. The Hawk, 8.2 (A. Reed), was the only other starter. Thespian won by two lengths from Gloaming, with Silver Link two lengths and a half away. The time for the mile was 1.36 3-s—an Australasian record. The sectional times were: One furlong 13 2-os. two 24 2-ss, three 35 3-ss, four 475, and five 58 2-ss. The time for the first six furlongs is not given, because it is impossible to clock it.
