VICE-REGAL PARTY.

DEPARTURE BY .ViATAI. EX. ROUTE TO W*AITAXGI. On their way to attend the Waitangi celebrations 011 February 5 and 0, the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, anci Lady Bledisloe left Auckland by the Government steamer Matai, which sailed from Prince's wharf at 10.40 this morning. Their Excellencies went oil board shortly before 10.30 and were farewelled by the chairman of the Harbour Board, Mr. T. B. Clay. A small crowd watched the ship's departure. The Matai will first visit the Moko Hinau lighthouse and then the lighthouse 011 the Hen and Chickens. She will arrive at Kawau to-morrow evening- Their Excellencies will watch some of the races at the regatta at Kawau 011 Saturday morning of the Royal Xew Zealand Yacht Squadron. After that the Matai will leave for Russell, arriving there on Saturday night. On board the Matai with their Excellencies are Mr. and Mrs. F. Bathurst, Sir Cecil Day (private secretary), and Lieutenant J. C. Elworthv, R.X., and Captain J. W. Twecdie. A.D.C.'s. Visit to Hokianga. Their Excellencies will return to Auckland 011 February 10. They are to visit Hokianga 011 February 13. His Excellency has telegraphed to the Hokianga County Council that, accompanied by Lady Bledisloe. he will arrive at the Hokianga Heads on February 13, and desires to meet the councillors, farmers and as many of the residents and school children as possible 011 that day. He further desires that the people are not to be put to any expense.

Tho Hokiangu County Council has arranged the following programme:— Their Excellencies will be met at 11 a.m. at Rawene, and proceed to the county hall, where an address will be made, by the chairman, Mr. A. C. Yarborough, and by a. representative of the native race. At 12.!.) the party will be entertained at luncheon, and at 1.15 will leave for Waippua State Forest, calling at the Hokianga Hospital and at Wainiauku to meet the settlers and school ecliildren. The party will arrive at tho forest at 4 p.m., returning, via Opoiioni, to Rawene at G. 30.
