NORTHERN CRUISE.
WANGANELLA'S TRIP.
ARRIVAL AT WHANGAROA
RUSSELL THIS AFTERNOON
(By Wireless.—Special Reporter.) S.S. WANGAXELLA, this clay. With 320 passengers on board, tlie Wanganella this morning arrived in Whangaroa'e magnifieeiit harbour, the most northerly point in her roughly triangular cruise. There was a sombre grey background as the vessel moved along the winding channel, and few cameras were in we, for it is sunshine that makes a picture. Still, the fascination of the harbour was there, and the passengers were early on deck to see it. Many of the passengers are having their first experience of cruising in a liner, and last night they enjoyed the novelty of dancing on deck while the vessel heaved lazily on the swell. A strong easterly is blowing , , but there is little anger in it. The skies were brighter, and deck eporte were in full swing as the Wanganella nosed out of Whangaroa and turned towards Russell.
Launch parties went ashore this afternoon to visit Pailria and. Waitangi, and many tourists had their first peep of Russell, the cradle of New Zealand's history. The "sland-etudded coast and the beautiful Bay of Islands inlet gain in charm when viewed from a liner's deck. To-morrow, on the 100-mile run to the Greirt Barrier, the passengers will see the numerous coastal landmarks. The ship will anchor at Port Fitzroy for tomorrow night, and a fancy dress ball will be held on board.
