WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
NGARUAWAHIA. Instead of the usual mooting of the Ngaruawahia Women's Institute a very enjoyable picnic was held on the "Point. ,, There wcru lollic scrambles, ice creams, and soft drinks provided for the children, and races for the young and old. The social held on New Year's Night wah a success. The net proceeds were equally divided between the local Welfare League, Plunket Society and the institute.
TE UKU. Tho Te Uku Women's Institute held their monthly meeting recently, when Mra. Silcock presided over a good attendance of members and friends. A very interesting lecture on first aid was given by Dr. Mulcock, of Raglan. The roll of honour competition, "Something baked with one egg, , ' was won by Mrs. M. Wilson, with Airs. ' Dent second. Bowl of sweet peas, Mrs. Dent 1, Mies C. Macdouakl 2. Both junior competitions were won by Cynthia Dent. An amusing competition, "A Fishy Romance," arranged by Mrs. Cogswell, was won by Miss M. Wilson. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Meedames A. Moon, O. Wallis, Sweetman and Dent.
