AUCKLAND CENTRE SPORTS.
PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS,
LARGE ENTRIES FOR SATURDAY.
The Auckland Centre of the New Zealanc Amateur Athletic Association will conduct the twelfth provincial championships at th( Auckland Domain cricket ground on Satur day. Good entries have been received, ant some really fine racing is nssured. Several of the champions will not be defending theii titles. N. F, Cooper, the mile and thret miles champion, is suffering from a serious ankle injury; P. T. Bowie, the 120 yds hurdle champion, is now in Wellington ; D Kerr-Taylor, 440 yds hurdle champion, is recovering from a serious accident; T. H. Gilmour, who won the discus throw, is now domiciled in Otago; the javelin champion, G. J. Sceats, has been transferred south, and Mrs. Harris, the 100 yds ladies' champion, is also suffering from an injury which has necessitated her retirement. Good entries have been received from the countr; I athletes, competitors from Whangarei, Rotorua, Hamilton and Cambridge being represented.
