TAKAPUNA MEETING.

THE CONCLUDING DAY.

MASTER BRIERLY THE T.J.C. HANDICAP. PLATE TO PSYCHOLOGIST. The summer meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was concluded'yesterday in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, and the course was in excellent order. The Takapuna Handicap was won by Master Brierly, while the Hauraki Plate went to Psychologist, who narrowly defeated Limbolim. During the day the* sum of £25,025 was put through the totalisator, against £22,806 15/, an increase of £2ioß 5/. This made a total for the meeting of £45,911 10/, compared with. £43,229 10/, an increase of £2682.

- Thespis Lifts High-weight. Bright Flower was the only defection in the Waiwera High-weight, .most money coming for Black Ma,rlin, United and Thespis, the last-named ; proving successful by half a head. Ruby Meteor and Courthaven were first to show up, the former leading past the stand from Glenrata, Courthaven, Thespis, United and Black Marlin. Glenrata and Ruby Meteor were on terms along the back with Courthaven and Thespis handy, then came United and . Black Marlin. Thespis replaced Courthaven as they .turned for home, the 'order of the others being unchanged, and in a great finish Thespis won by half a head from Courthaven, who finished - very fast, with, Glenrata half a length away. ~ Ruby Meteor, United and Black Marlin were next. Course Record Established.

Royal Gallant dropped out of the Takapuna Jockey Club Handicap, which proved to be a solid betting race,' with Master Brierly, Master Norval and Eager Rose best supported., Master Brierly proved the winner, running the distance in record time for the cdurse. As they passed the stand, Gay Marigold and Whakapara were leading Mungatoon, Master Norval, Master Brierly, Alloy and Maori Boy, with Eager Rose, who got caught in the tapes at the start, :last. Along the back x Whakapara and Gay. Marigold were on terms, followed by ■ Mungatoon, Master Norval and Alloy,, with Master Brierly at the rear of the field. ; The order across the top was precisely the same, though Mungatoon dropped back to fifth place. Gay Marigold led into. 'the ; , straight, with Whakapara -handy* then came Mungatoon, Master Norval, * Alloy, Master Brierly and Maori Boy, .with Eager Rose last next. Master Brierly finished very fast jn the straight* and got np to win by three-quarters o'f a length from, Gay Marigold, with Mungatoon two lengths away. . Eager Rose, was fourth, then came Maori Boy, Whakapara, Alloy and Master- Norval.

Rider Indisposed. , , A. Tinker's, name was put up on the board as the rider of Master Brierly, but owing to being indisposed he could not take the mount, and H. Goldfinch was substituted.

Rereatu Again. There were half a dozen withdrawals in' the Anniversary Handicap, in which Rereatu was a staunch favourite, while Sinking Fund and Puriri Park also had friends'. Jalldy Karo, Sinking Fund and-RereatU ;fifst to movej but Rereatu through and was on*terms with ■. Sinking Fund'and Hampton Park along .the-back, the .trio, being followed, by Puriri Park, Limex and Jalldy Karo.' There was little change crossing -the top,' where Jalldy Karo ran up fourth .'and Rereatu'led into the straight from Sinking * Fundi and iHampton. Park, i with; Jalldy' Karo, Puriri Park and Limex following,;-. Rereatu: held his own-an, "the run'ihohie and won by a neck from Jalldy Karo, who.' finished "strongly * to' beat 'Hampton Park for second money by- half, a- length. Sinking Fund/'Puriri, Farir and Limex" were next.

S3 Betting was brisk, with mostmoney invested on Bellkyrian, Imamint, and-Wait and' See. "Imamini led'along the back from Wait and See, Bellkyrian, Sir Willonyx and , Roman .Mascot/.; the order being ' the same across 'the top. Imamint was first, into the straight, with Wait and See next, then came Sir Willonyx and Pelagia, and. she went on, to win by a length and a half from AVait and See, with Sir Willonyx .the same' distance away. Roman Mascot, Pelagia, Golden Sceptre and Gold Pocket were next. j
