CORNWELL CUP.
WON BY TAURANGA, FIFTH AND SIXTH EACES. The Corn well Cup contest was won by the Tauranga crew, Graham Carter and S. Densen, who finished first in the fifth and sixth race's of the series sailed yesterday afternoon. The fifth race started at 1.8 p.m. in a westerly breeze, the lightest of the contest. Auckland in Benny was first away, followed by Whangarei (Oil, Tauranga (Betty), Manukau (Trevie), Rotorua (Me Too) and Hamilton (Delphine). Tauranga led throughout. A close finish was wutnessed, Auckland gaining in the last 200 yards, but Tauranga's skipper, Graham Carter, held the weather position, and the finish was timed: Tauranga 2h 29m 15s, Auckland 2h 29m 31s, Manukau 2h 29m 48s, Whangarei 2h 30m 51s, Hamilton 2h 33m 51s, Rotorua 2h 38m 28s. The Sixth Race. The sixth race was held later in the afternoon, the crews and boats being:— Auckland, Trevie; Tauranga, Oi; Manukau, Delphine; Whangarei, Me Too: Rotorua, Benny; Hamilton, Betty. From a good start at 3.35 p.m. Manukau was first away, followed by Tauranga, Whangarei, Hamilton, Auckland and Rotorua. Manukau led to the first mark. Ou the beat to Northcote Whangarei stood on a long board toward the point, the other boats working more out in the tide. Tauranga was again doing well, having drawn their own boat Oi. The first round was. completed: Tauranga 41i 22m 14s, Manukau 4h 23m 10s, Whangarei 4h 25m 10s, Auckland 4h 25m 50s, Hamilton 4h 31m 30s. Rotorua retired. Tauranga continued her lead on the second round, Manukau pushing her at times, but Tauranga sailed a good race, Auckland never being prominent Ihe finish was: Tauranga 5h 5m 15s, Manukau 5h 6m 495, Whangarei 5h 10m 10s, Auckland 5h 14m ss, Hamilton 5h 30m 455. The Tauranga crow received a great ovation when they finished, the Manukau : and Whangarei crews coming ill for their ■ share. i The cup will be presented to Mr. Pcrcy Carter, the Tauranga delegate, in the , Takapuna Clubhouse this evening.
Z CLASS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. The third Z class contest was sailed this morning in a light breeze and resulted in Lyttclton first, Kaiapoi second, Christchurch third, Wellington fourth and Jnvercargill fifth. Lyttelton won by 4m, with only 41s between the next four boats.
