Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court this morning charged with attempting to defraud Jessie Muir ol the sum of £.">0 by falsely represcntin that ho had been empowered to .ell 400 shares in a company known ai> tne Margaret Rose Saloon. . , The magistrate fixed bail in sureties of £230 or one of ioUU. A disturbance on a Point Chevalier tram on December 15 led to t>wo men, Edward B. Vincent 20 (Mr Hart), and Douglas M. McLeod, 21 (Mr. Coates), being charged wlth rr , behav '"2 in a disorderly manner. There wae also a charge against Vincent of obscene language. Evidence was given by the conductor and motorman that after boarding the tram McLeod was ill. The P a "". wer< j ordered off, but McLeod refused and Vincent became abusive and wanted to fight the conductor. Counsel said that the pair had been drinking "home brew." Vincent was fined £2, and McLeod was remanded for three months to see how he behaved.
