BURIED SIX DAYS.
Aged Indian Woman Dies After
Being Rescued.
'QUAKE AFTERMATH HORROR.
(Received 1 p.m.) CALCUTTA, January 24. Apart from hundreds of bodies disposed of in the first 48 hours, volunteers organised by the Salvation Army have unearthed a further COO corpses in Monghyr alone. It is probable that another 1000 are under the ruins. An aged woman, who was extricated after si* days, succumbed shortly after her rescue. Whole families were found dead, locked in each others' arms.
The stench or rotting corpses makes the work of the searchers both unpleasant and dangerous, and raises fears of an epidemic as strong as that of another earthquake.
