PROVINCIAL NEWS.
MORRINSVILLE. | The combined sports club's ball at the Mangateparu Hall, near Morrinsville, on Thursday evening, was well attended, the record sum of £18 11/ being taken at the door in aid of improvements to the sports pavilion at the Mangateparu Domain. The hall was filled to capacity, dancers being present from all parts of the Morrinsville district. Buses from Morrinsville and Patctonga were well patronised. Arrangements for the ball were in the hands of a committee comprising Misses J. Kerr and G. Billinglon, Messrs. F. Carter, W. Kerr, jun., and J. Penny. The decorations consisted of streamers of the men's and ladies' hockey clubs —black and white and blue and gold—with lycopodium, and tree ferns were arranged round the walls. Music was provided by Mrs. Kerr's orchestra. Extras were played by Miss N. Kerr and by a Maori orchestra from Tahujia. The duties of master of ceremonies were carried out by Mr. H. Bloomlield.
ROTORUA NOTES. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Wilkie and Master D. Wilkie, of Pukaki Street, have returned from a holiday spent at Tauranga. Mrs. Hewitt, of Auckland, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. C. D. Willmott. Miss 0. Booth, who was the guest of Mrs. F. W. Wilkie at Tauranga, has returned to Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. Potter and their small daughter have returned from a holiday spent in Auckland. Mrs. J. R. Blencowe and Mrs. C. R. Lloyd, who have been the guests of Mrs. Lloyd's mother, Mrs. Neil, of East Cape, have returned to Rotorua. Mrs. R. Stewart and family, of Sophia Street, arc spending a fortnight's holiday at Waiwera Hot Springs, North Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. E. Butt and family, of Whakaue Street, have returned from a holiday spent at Maketu. Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Scott, of Remuera Road, are on a visit to Rotorua. Miss Clulce, of Great South Road, Auckland, is visiting Rotorua. Miss Miller, of Sydney, after an extended tour to England and the Continent, is now making an extended visit to New Zealand, and is visiting her niece, Mrs. Cook, of Waiotapu. Before returning to Sydney she intends visiting friends in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. Culpan, of Remuera, are on a visit to Rotorua. Miss V. Walsh and Miss D. Walsh, who have been, staying aC Lake Rotoiti, have returned to lvoliimarama.
WHANGAREI NOTES. Mrs. C. Nealie, of The Parade, St. Helier's, is visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. E. H. Perkins, of the Schoolhouse, Kamo. Mr. and Mrs. Hayward, of Maunu, are staying at Urquhart'e Bay for a few weeks. Mrs. Roffe-Smith is spending a short holiday at Potter's Bay. Mrs. R. Feaver, of Maunu, is spending a holiday at Urquhart's Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Noel Johnson are spending a vacation in the Bay of Islands. Mrs. Cottingliam, of _ Hamilton, is visiting Whangarei, and is the guest of Mrs. Cleary, Donald Street. Miss Ruby F. Alexander has returned to her home in Titoki after spending an enjoyable holiday at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hunter, of Tikipunga, have returned Lome from Ngunguru Beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Harrison, of Hall Avenue, have returned from a holiday spent at Epsom, Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. N. Hairington, of Hatea Street, are at Onerahi. Dr. and Mrs. S. H. Ward are at Matapouri. Mr. and Mrs. Crane, of Kamo Road, are at their, seaside residence at Ngunguru. Mrs. G. N. Morris, Aubrey Street, has returned from the W.E.A. camp at Paerata, near Pukekohe. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Tresidder, of Graham Street, have returned from a holiday spent in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Cooke, of Apirana Avenue, are staying at their seaside residence at Raetahi.
Mr. and -Mrs. Spencer Day, of Graham Street, are spending the holidays at Takapuna.
