January 13, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:; — Tallow.—Quiet demand at auction, < Casks offered totalled 1067, of which 245 \ sold at late rates to 6d decline. Present j spot quotations are:—Mutton: Fine, 24/ to 24/ C; fair to good, 21/ to 22/6; dark to dull, 10/ to 19/6. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 22/ to 22/9; fair to good, 20/ to 21/; dark to dull, 18/ to 19/3. Mixed: Fair to good, 20/ to 21/; dark to dull, 17/0 to 19/3. Gut, etc., 17/6 to 19/3. Hemp.—Manila: Market firm and active. K grade for January-March shipment sold up to £15 5/, for March-May shipment £15 10/. Output January 1 to 8, 39,000 1 bales, against 38,000 for the same period ' last year. Stocks in the United Kingdom ' on January 8, 8000 bales, against 20,000 l at same time last year. Stocks in Manila on January 8, 130,000 bales, against ! 153,000 at the eaine time last year. Sisal: ; Market firm. April shipment sold £12 10/ to £12 15/. : Stocks in London on December 31, 1933, . 47 tons against 77 tons for the previous ; year. ; ARTIFICIAL SILK PRICES. \ LONDON", January 13. ] Courtauld's Artificial Silk Company ■ has decided to extend its production by l 30 per cent, and to reduce the price of ' viscose yarn by about 3d.
