M)J. T. MeC. Anderson, foreman stevedore of the Shaw, Savill Company at Port Chalmers, is retiring. Mr. D. F. B. Thomas, of tho Bank of New South Wales, Eketaliuna, lias received notice of his transfer to KoliUkohu, Hokianga. Mr. <7. E. Cuthill, secretary of the Southland Racing Club, was admitted to hospital last Thursday to undergo an operation for appendicitis. Mr. 8. W. M. Stilling, New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel , Association, is returning to Wellington from Sydney by tho Wanganella, due there to-night. Mr. Juliau B. Foster, formerly American Trade Cominissioncr in New Zealand, has been appointed to a similar post in the Malay Archipelago, with headquarters in Singapore. Mr. M. H. Wynynrd, motorists' representative on the Main Highways Board, left for Wellington last evening to join other members of the board on a ten days' tour of the South Island. Viscount Long, aide-de-camp to the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, accompanied by Viscountess Long, is on a visit to Eotorua. During their stay they will spend part of their time troutfishing. Dr. J. Pearson, who recently retired from the directorship of the Ceylon National Museum, Colombo, is visiting New Zealand prior to going to Hobart to take up the position of director of the National Museum of Tasmania. Mr. Frank Goldberg, govcrnir-j director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, Ltd., will arrive in New Zealand from Sydney early next month, to attend the Press Conference at Hanmer Springs, commencing on Monday, February 12. The Hon. Sir Geo. Fowlds, the Rev. Dr. H. Ranston, Professor 11. W. Segar and Mr. T. U. Wells, of Auckland, and Mr. F. A. de la Marc, of Hamilton, are attending the annual meeting of tho Senate of the University of New Zealand, which was opened in Wellington this morning by the chancellor, Professor J. Macinillan Brown.
