OBITUARY.

SONGWRITER IN ENGLAND.

(Received 10.30 a.m.)

LONDON, January 4.

The death is reported of the wellknown songwriter, Mr. Robert Coningsby Clarke. Ho was 54 years of age, and was at one time Surveyor-General of Ceylon. His home was at Chelsea.

Coningsby Clarke's numerous publications of songs and poems included "The Blind Ploughman," "Red Devon by the Sea," and "Songs of the Malvern Hills."
